English abstract

The book is composed by six chapters that are divided into two main sections. The first section, entitled "Reflections on intellectual production in the academic environment" focuses Chapters 1 to 3. These first chapters discuss, respectively, some aspects related to ethics in research activities, the relationship between researchers and managers, the terminology and concepts that underlie the intellectual products, scientific or academic categorization and a method of evaluating the knowledge produced in academic environment. The second section, entitled "Scenarios on the intellectual production at State University of Londrina", is represented by Chapters 4, 5 and 6, which exposes the results of a research carried jointly by teachers and students at the Information Science Departament of UEL as part of the project "Management of UEL's Intellectual Production". A research project that started in 2007 and sought among other goals, to diagnose and raise the production of knowledge in some areas of the institution, expressed in different sources and information channels.

Portuguese abstract

A obra é composta por seis capítulos que estão distribuídos em duas seções. A primeira, intitulada “Reflexões acerca da produção intelectual no ambiente acadêmico”, concentra os capítulos 1, 2 e 3 de autores convidados e articula-se em discussões que permeiam o fazer científico. Os três capítulos iniciais discutem, respectivamente, aspectos relacionados à ética na pesquisa nas relações entre pesquisadores e gestores, questões terminológicas e conceituais que perpassam as categorizações do que sejam produções intelectuais, científicas ou acadêmicas, e, a busca pelo consenso quanto a um sistema de avaliação do conhecimento produzido no ambiente acadêmico. A segunda seção denomina-se “Cenários da produção intelectual na Universidade Estadual de Londrina”, representada pelos capítulos 4, 5 e 6, em que são apresentados resultados de pesquisas desenvolvidas conjuntamente por docentes e discentes do Departamento de Ciência da Informação da UEL, como parte do projeto “Gestão da Produção Intelectual da UEL”. Projeto este iniciado em 2007 e que buscou, dentre outras metas, levantar e diagnosticar a produção de conhecimento em algumas áreas da instituição, expressa em diferentes fontes e canais de informação.
