English abstract

DigiBib is the oldest and, with more than 200 participating institutions, the most widespread library portal system in the Germany. It is a hosting-solution from the hbz and relieves the library from administrative and maintenance tasks. Due to a customisable interface and various options for a configuration, a seamless integration with other services of the library is possible. The hbz acts as a service provider and provides assistance in content acquisition, usage data, etc. Additionally to the meta search, DigiBib offers several services: administration of hyperlinks, databases, and the 'Electronic Journals Library' EZB, interlending, an OpenURL Resolver, and an virtual information desk. The coming version 6 offers new functionalities by means of a barrier-free interface and a search engine technology. This paper outlines the present system as well as current developments and improvements.

German abstract

Die DigiBib ist das älteste und am weitesten verbreitete Portalsystem in der deutschen Bibliothekslandschaft mit fast 200 teilnehmenden Institutionen. Als Hosting-Lösung des hbz konzipiert, entlastet es die Bibliothek von praktisch allen Administrations- und Wartungsarbeiten. Trotzdem ermöglichen die anpassbare Oberfläche und die umfangreichen Konfigurationsoptionen eine nahtlose Integration in das Angebot der jeweiligen Bibliothek. Das hbz agiert dabei als Dienstleister im Hintergrund, der von der Akquise der Inhalte über die Vermittlung bis hin zur Nutzungsauswertung Hilfestellung leistet. Über die übliche (Meta-)Suche vergleichbarer Angebote hinaus führt die DigiBib eine Reihe weiterer Produkte und Dienste (Verwaltung von Links & Datenbanken, EZB, Fernleihe, OpenURL-Resolver, DigiAuskunft) unter einer homogenen Oberfläche zusammen. Die nächste Version 6 wird neben einer modernisierten, barrierefreien Oberfläche mit der Integration von Suchmaschinen-Technologie neue Recherchemöglichkeiten eröffnen. Der Beitrag präsentiert sowohl das bestehende System wie auch die laufenden Entwicklungen und Neuerungen.
