English abstract

The analysis of the many definitions of digital library shows theexistence of different approaches to the phenomenon. The definitions are influenced by the context or objectives of the research or service that are made. It proposes an analysis of definitions, and the reformulation of the concept of digital library, according to their evolution towards a knowledge center.

Spanish abstract

El análisis de las numerosas definiciones de la biblioteca digital muestra la existencia de diferentes aproximaciones y enfoques al fenómeno. Las definiciones están influidas por el contexto o por los objetivos de la investigación o servicio en el que se formulan. Se propone un análisis de definiciones, y la reformulación del concepto de biblioteca digital, atendiendo a su evolución hacia un modelo de centro de conocimiento.
