English abstract
This article analyzes the international importance of the Ibero-American scientific community in the field of the social sciences from a quantitative point of view. To achieve this objective it studies three key areas: the production of the Ibero-American authors in the main international scientific journals; the presence of Spanish and Portuguese languages in those journals; and, the role of the journals edited in the Ibero- American countries. The conclusions of the study show the growing role of the Ibero- American research in the social sciences although it is still away from the leading countries. Among the countries analyzed, Spain and Brazil are the two drivers of the field.
