English abstract

Οι βιβλιοθήκες αντιμετωπίζουν σήμερα την πρόκληση της αξιοποίησης νέων προηγμένων τεχνολογιών στους δικτυακούς τους τόπους. Οι ελληνικές ακαδημαϊκές βιβλιοθήκες έχουν μείνει πίσω στην αξιοποίηση των νέων τεχνολογιών, γεγονός που αποτελεί ευκαιρία για την ενσωμάτωσή τους στους δικτυακούς τόπους όχι ως απλή πράξη εντυπωσιασμού των χρηστών, αλλά ως μελετημένη στρατηγική απόφαση που εξυπηρετεί συγκεκριμένους στόχους και εκπληρώνει την αποστολή της κάθε βιβλιοθήκης.

Greek abstract

Libraries today face the challenge of using new advanced technologies on their websites. Greek academic libraries have lagged behind in exploiting new technologies and should try to keep up by integrating them into their websites. This should be done not as a simple act to impress patrons, but as a well- designed strategic decision that serves specific goals and fulfills the mission of each library.
