English abstract

These handouts are from a workshop on family law for public librarians presented to the BC Library Association Conference in April 2011. Some of the basics in family law in BC were covered by the lawyer who hosts the website www.bcfamilylawresource.com. Topics included the court system, alternatives to litigation, the law on children (custody, guardianship, child support), spousal support, marriage and divorce and new developments in family law. Current resources to help the public with their questions were also presented.
