English abstract

This article describes the Inspire service in the UK which promotes cross sectoral resource sharing in England for the benefit of all learners. The origins of Inspire are indicated and its many benefits especially at a time of significant cuts in Library service are identified. Inspire provides a valuable resource sharing service in England, it is supported by key figures from all sectors and also by the British Library and the National Libraries of Scotland and Wales.
