Bibliotecas carcelarias: una experiencia cordobesa

English abstract

This paper describes the experience of a group of teachers and students of the School of Librarianship at the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities (National University of Cordoba, Argentina) who organized the workshop "Building a catalog of information resources for the Library of Penitenciary Unit No. 2." The workshop was offered for prison inmates within the Program University in Prison (PUC) of the National University. The encounter of students and teachers of library science with the reality in prisons and the role assigned to the prison library by different institutions, started an extensive debate on different topics related to the discourse on the prison library, the real opportunities that interns might have in order to appropriate of the space that the library offers them, the relationship between the library, and the control systems, and the symbolic violence of the prison and the emerging statements of the library social work.

Spanish abstract

Este trabajo expone la experiencia de un grupo de docentes y alumnos de la Escuela de Bibliotecología de la Facultad de Filosofía y Humanidades (Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Argentina) que en el marco del Programa Universitario en la Cárcel (PUC) dictaron el taller “Creación de un catálogo de recursos de información para biblioteca en la Unidad Penitenciaria N° 2” para internos del Penal. El encuentro de estudiantes y docentes de bibliotecología con la realidad carcelaria y el rol asignado a las bibliotecas carcelarias por parte de las diferentes instituciones, produjo un extenso debate sobre diferentes temáticas vinculadas al discurso sobre la biblioteca carcelaria, las oportunidades reales que tienen los internos de apropiarse del espacio que brinda la biblioteca, la relación entre la biblioteca y los sistemas de control y violencia simbólica de la prisión y los incipientes planteos sobre el trabajo social bibliotecario.
