English abstract

15 years ago, at the Librarians' Congress 1996 in Innsbruck, the decision was announced that there shall come into existence a University of Applied Sciences for Information Professions in Austria. The "Association for the Promotion of the Foundation of a University of Applied Sciences for Information Professions" (Verein zur Förderung der Errichtung einer Fachhochschule für Informationsberufe / FIB) held an important role in preparing the ground for that decision. The following text portrays the nascency of the Association, its history and its activity.

Vor genau 15 Jahren, beim Bibliothekartag 1996 in Innsbruck, wurde bekannt, dass es einen Fachhochschulstudiengang für Informationsberufe geben wird. Der "Verein zur Förderung der Errichtung einer Fachhochschule für Informationsberufe (FIB)" war ein wichtiger Wegbereiter für diese Entscheidung. Der folgende Artikel schildert seine Entstehung, seine Geschichte und sein Wirken auf den Meinungsbildungsprozess der beteiligten Institutionen.
