English abstract

The arrival of new digital technologies have influenced in the environment of the books, including libraries. This paper discusses some of the consequences and gives an outlook of future developments in the sector: preservation, interlibraries loan, etc.

Spanish abstract

La llegada de nuevas tecnologías digitales y su convivencia con las tecnologías físicas han obligado a todo el entorno de los libros –incluidas las bibliotecas- a unos procesos de adaptación complejos. Se analizan los problemas que afectan especialmente a las bibliotecas: la conservación de los soportes digitales y los modelos de préstamo bibliotecario. Se vaticinan otros elementos en los próximos años, que estarán muy relacionados con el futuro de los procesos de producción, comercialización y distribución de los libros digitales.
