English abstract

This paper presents the results of a metric analysis performed on the degree theses in Library and Information Science at the National University of Mar del Plata. The main objective of this research is to provide an overview of the themes and methodologies chosen by students. The work was conducted on a sample of all theses submitted and approved. For the data analysis were taken the following variables: year of approval, director, mode, topic, type of research, methods, data collection techniques, information units studied and agreed areas by the Schools of Library and Science of Information in MERCOSUR. The results can be very useful for decision at the time of curriculum reform, redefining skills and professional profiles, as well as to consider the development of lines and areas of study for application in research groups of the discipline.

Spanish abstract

Este documento presenta los resultados del análisis métrico realizado sobre la producción de tesinas de licenciatura en Bibliotecología y Documentación de la Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata. El objetivo principal de esta investigación es ofrecer un panorama general de las tendencias temáticas y las metodologías elegidas por los estudiantes. El trabajo se realizó sobre una muestra significativa del total de tesinas presentadas y aprobadas. Para el análisis se tomaron en cuenta las siguientes variables: año de aprobación, director, modalidad, temas, tipo de investigación, métodos utilizados, técnicas de recolección de datos, unidades de información estudiadas y áreas acordadas por las Escuelas de Bibliotecología y Ciencia de la Información del MERCOSUR. Los resultados obtenidos pueden ser de mucha utilidad para la toma de decisiones a la hora de reformar planes de estudio, redefinir competencias y perfiles profesionales, como así también para considerar el desarrollo espontáneo de líneas y temas de estudio para aplicarlo en grupos de investigación de la disciplina.
