English abstract

The article explains a debate which took place in the German library community in the years of 2001 and 2002. The point in question was whether the German libraries should change from the German cataloguing rules (RAK) to the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules (AACR2). The stages of the debate are presented and various arguments are discussed.

Der Beitrag erläutert die Anfänge der RAK-AACR2-Debatte im deutschen Bibliothekswesen in den Jahren 2001 und 2002. Der Ablauf der Debatte in diesem frühen Stadium wird präsentiert und die Argumente werden kritisch gesichtet.
