English abstract

Examines the scientific output in the field of ‘nanotechnology’, with the intention to offer an overview of research trends in that field and characterize its aspects such as growth of literature, authorship pattern, productivity of journals, authors, countries, etc. Sample selected consist of 2675 articles published during 1991-2006 covered by Web of Science (WoS), especially via the Science Citation Index. The study analyses the presentation of publications, frequencies and percentages. Authorship pattern and core journals using Lotka’s Law and Bradford’s Law of scattering respectively. The study reveals that there is a rapid growth of nanotechnology research from the beginning of 21st century.
