English abstract

This communication has as main objective to present the Municipal Archives Ponte de Lima, while traditional repository (analog documents) and digital repository (digital information) sources of information essential to the story of Ponte de Lima, from the Middle Ages to Contemporary History. It is intended to emphasize, in this paper, the relationship between the Municipal Archive of Ponte de Lima and Local History, ie the part devoted to the culture and historical research. However, in the current context of the Information Society, the Municipal Archives can not be seen as a mere repository of documents / information service for researchers. It is, first and foremost a service organization structurally inseparable from the producer - the municipality of Ponte de Lima (organic and functional context) that actively contributes to the introduction of a new dynamic to the level of administrative modernization and interaction / communication between the municipality and the citizens.

Portuguese abstract

Esta comunicação tem como principal objetivo dar a conhecer o Arquivo Municipal Ponte de Lima, enquanto repositório tradicional (documentos analógicos) e repositório digital (informação digital) de fontes de informação imprescindíveis para a história de Ponte de Lima, desde a Idade Média à contemporaneidade. Pretende-se salientar, nesta comunicação, a relação entre o Arquivo Municipal de Ponte de Lima e a História Local, ou seja, a vertente vocacionada para a cultura e a investigação histórica. No entanto, no atual contexto da Sociedade da Informação, o Arquivo Municipal não pode ser visto como um simples repositório de documentos/informação ao serviço dos investigadores. Trata-se, antes de mais, de um serviço estruturalmente indissociável da entidade produtora – o Município de Ponte de Lima (contexto orgânico-funcional), que contribui ativamente para a introdução de uma nova dinâmica ao nível da modernização administrativa e da interação/comunicação entre o município e os munícipes.
