English abstract

This editorial describes three possible cases of performance in Library & Information Science (LIS) related to ideas associated with the research. Describes conditions and qualities that practitioners and researchers share and states that to be a researcher must have vocation, desire and drive to be. Here are the ways and alternatives offered in the public-state sphere to start a career in research. Finally, there are several combined components that slow the production of knowledge in BCI in Argentina: low teacher dedication to research, characteristics of entrants, lack of staggered postgraduate studies; motivation on the doctorate. The solution will come with short and medium term planning, with the modification of the speeches and with the undertaking of progressive actions.

Spanish abstract

En este editorial se describen tres casos posibles de desempeño en Bibliotecología/Ciencia de la Información (BCI) vinculados con ideas asociadas a la investigación. Se describen condiciones y cualidades que comparten profesionales e investigadores y se afirma que para ser investigador hay que tener vocación, deseo y pulsión de serlo. A continuación se indican los caminos y las alternativas que se ofrecen en el ámbito público-estatal para iniciar una carrera de investigador. Por último, se presentan varios componentes que se combinan para ralentizar la producción de conocimientos en B/CI en la Argentina: bajas dedicaciones docentes; características de los ingresantes; ausencia de postgrados escalonados; desmotivación respecto del doctorado. La solución llegará con una planificación a corto y mediano plazo, con la modificación de los discursos y con el emprendimiento de acciones progresivas.
