English abstract

Publications of Spanish excellence within the biotechnology field, have grown to double between 2003 and 2009, accounting for 20.74% of total production for this period. Scientific excellence in relation to Spanish average has remained, for the entire period 2003-2009, to values greater than 1.5, ie, 50% higher than the national average. The percentage of publications in the first quartile (Q1), has gone from representing 56% in 2003 to 40% in 2009. In 2009, the type of publications that more increases are the Q3.

Las publicaciones de excelencia españolas dentro de la categoría de la biotecnología, han crecido hasta duplicarse entre 2003 y 2009, suponiendo el 20,74% del total de la producción para este período. La excelencia científica en relación al promedio español se ha mantenido, para todo el período 2003-2009, en valores superiores al 1,5, es decir, un 50% superior a la media nacional. El porcentaje de publicaciones en revistas del primer cuartil (Q1), pasa de representar el 56% en 2003 al 40% en 2009. En 2009, el tipo de publicaciones que más aumenta son las Q3.
