English abstract

The article presents an overview of the 76th IFLA General Conference and Congress held on 10-15 August 2010 in Gothenburg, Sweden. The basic subject of the Conference was open access to knowledge. The author of the article is interested in the library development policy and possibilities of presenting Lithuania’s publishing and digital content in the global digital space. There was a meeting of representatives from OCLC (Online Computer Library Centre) at the Conference. The National Library’s bibliographic records have received positive testing results allowing Lithuania to join OCLC. Directions for participation of national libraries in the open access developments promoting sustainable progress were also discussed at the Conference’s CDNL (Conference of Directors of National Libraries) meetings
