English abstract

Microblogging’s rise in last years poses questions about his use and potential in several contexts. This work, specifically, plans to analyze an example of Twitter’s use as communication tool in professional meeting in information sector. So, a case study about X Workshop Rebiun is done. Empyrical work combines participative observation, data logs, interviews and content analysis. We found evidence about Twitter’s plurality uses and Twitter’s capacity to enhance a virtual community emerged from this event.

El aumento del microblogging en los últimos años plantea cuestiones sobre sus usos y potencialidades en diversos contextos. En este trabajo en concreto, se plantea el objetivo de analizar un ejemplo de los usos de Twitter como instrumento de comunicación en los congresos profesionales de información y documentación. Para ello se realiza un estudio de caso sobre el X Workshop Rebiun. En el trabajo empírico se combinan observación participante, registro de datos, entrevistas y análisis de contenido. Se evidencia la pluralidad de usos y la capacidad de Twitter como elemento vertebrador de la comunidad virtual creada en relación al acontecimiento.
