English abstract

The open access initiative gains ground constantly around the world, and already a wide number of Universities has adopted the principles of open access. The copyright constitute an important factor of open access due to the moral dimension of the academic and research work as well as the special nature of the internet. One of the most popular licenses of use for the open access content is the Creative Commons licenses. In the current proposal we describe the use of the Creative Commons licenses in the KTISIS institutional repository that was developed by the Library and Information Services of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT). We also describe the policy that has been adopted for the deposit of work in the repository The Library of CUT following the directives of the European University Association progressed with the creation of an institutional repository. The Library consulted the directives of DRIVER (Digital Repository Infrastructure Vision for European Research) for the selection of the open source software, and decided to use the open source software DSpace. At the same time, the Managing Committee of CUT adopted the Library proposal for the obligatory submission of the publications of the academic staff of the University as well as the PhD and MSc theses. The Library checks the status of the copyright of each publication submitted to KTISIS based on the policy being followed by each magazine. In the case of already published articles, the writer potentially does not have the right to dispose the article in KTISIS. In this case, the Library creates the record in the system with the metadata concerning the specific publication and access to the full text of the article is only available through the connection to the electronic journal that the article belongs to. All the publications submitted to KTISIS constitute the copyright of the writer and are freely available in the internet under the terms of the Creative Commons licenses.

Το κίνημα της ανοιχτής πρόσβασης κερδίζει συνεχώς έδαφος σε όλο τον κόσμο, και ήδη ένας μεγάλος αριθμός Πανεπιστημίων έχει υιοθετήσει τις αρχές της ανοιχτής πρόσβασης. Τα πνευματικά δικαιώματα αποτελούν ένα σημαντικό ζήτημα της ανοιχτής πρόσβασης λόγω της ηθικής διάστασης του ακαδημαϊκού και ερευνητικού έργου καθώς και της ιδιαίτερης φύσης του διαδικτύου. Μια από τις δημοφιλέστερες άδειες χρήσης για το περιεχόμενο ανοιχτής πρόσβασης αποτελούν οι άδειες Creative Commons. Στη παρούσα εισήγηση περιγράφεται η χρήση των αδειών Creative Commons στο ιδρυματικό καταθετήριο ΚΤΙΣΙΣ που αναπτύχθηκε από τη Βιβλιοθήκη και Υπηρεσία Πληροφόρησης του Τεχνολογικού Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου (ΒΤΠ), καθώς και η πολιτική που έχει υιοθετηθεί κατά την κατάθεση εργασιών στο καταθετήριο. Η ΒΤΠ ακολουθώντας τις οδηγίες του European University Association προχώρησε στη δημιουργία ιδρυματικού καταθετηρίου. Για την επιλογή του λογισμικού ανοιχτού κώδικα συμβουλεύτηκε τις οδηγίες του DRIVER (Digital Repository Infrastructure Vision for European Research) και κατέληξε στο λογισμικό DSpace. Παράλληλα, η Διοικούσα Επιτροπή του ΤΕΠΑΚ υιοθέτησε την εισήγηση της Βιβλιοθήκης για την υποχρεωτική κατάθεση των δημοσιεύσεων των ακαδημαϊκών στο ΚΤΙΣΙΣ καθώς και των διδακτορικών και μεταπτυχιακών διατριβών. Η ΒΤΠ ελέγχει το καθεστώς των πνευματικών δικαιωμάτων κάθε δημοσίευσης που κατατίθεται στο ΚΤΙΣΙΣ με βάση την πολιτική που ακολουθεί κάθε περιοδικό. Στην περίπτωση δημοσιευμένων άρθρων ενδεχομένως ο συγγραφέας να μην έχει το δικαίωμα διάθεσης του άρθρου του στο ΚΤΙΣΙΣ. Σε αυτήν την περίπτωση, η Βιβλιοθήκη δημιουργεί την εγγραφή με τα μεταδεδομένα που αφορούν τη συγκεκριμένη δημοσίευση και η πρόσβαση στο πλήρες κείμενο του άρθρου είναι εφικτή μέσω της σύνδεσης στο ηλεκτρονικό περιοδικό στο οποίο ανήκει το άρθρο. Οι δημοσιεύσεις που έχουν κατατεθεί στο ΚΤΙΣΙΣ αποτελούν πνευματική ιδιοκτησία του συγγραφέα και είναι διαθέσιμες ελεύθερα στο διαδίκτυο κάτω από τους όρους της άδειας Creative Commons.
