English abstract

(Absence of) politics - strategies - visions: the principle of hope. This essay discusses current general conditions and influences on federal scientific libraries, the adjustment of mission statements, strategies for efficient cooperation. It lists actual fields of activities and hopefully articulates visions for political decisions.

Der Artikel stellt einige allgemeine Überlegungen zu momentanen Rahmenbedingungen und ihren Auswirkungen auf die Situation der bundesstaatlichen wissenschaftlichen Bibliothekslandschaft an, thematisiert die Neuausrichtung der Bibliotheken, mögliche Strategien zur effizienten Erfüllung der Aufgaben. Weiters werden aktuelle Handlungsfelder gelistet und die Hoffnung auf den Wiedereintritt der Politik in Form von Visionen artikuliert.
