English abstract

Education in the field of library, information, and documentation. A perpetuum mobile to cope with the future rather than with the past. This article outlines the milestones in the development of the Austrian library education. The most important changes that are often related to the technological development are described. Every professional librarian in Austria knows his or her formation; however, often there is no awareness of the continual change process in this field.

German abstract

Im vorliegenden Abriss werden die Meilensteine in der Entwicklung der Aus- und Fortbildung der wissenschaftlichen Bibliothekare in Österreich beschrieben und die wichtigsten inhaltlichen Änderungen aufgezeigt, die oftmals technologiebedingt sind. Jede/Jeder ausgebildete BibliothekarIn in Österreich kennt seine eigene Ausbildung, ist sich aber dieses permanenten Wandlungs- und Aktualisierungsprozesses nicht bewusst.
