English abstract

The book presents structuralism as a theoretical orientation in the history of Polish literary studies, which had a great impact on all areas of the theory of literature. Author uses methodological tools, which are still new in Polish science: radical constructivism and systems theory. The thesis refers to problems in the theory, sociology and history of literature. Author focuses on questions: What factors led to structuralism? What were the functions performed by structuralist theoretical language? What determined the changes and why it began to retreat?

Książka jest opisem jedynego nurtu badań w dziejach powojennego literaturoznawstwa polskiego, który tak istotnie wpłynął na wszystkie obszary wiedzy o literaturze – strukturalizmu. Autor używa nowatorskich na gruncie polskim narzędzi metodologicznych (systemowego konstruktywizmu), by w teoretycznie umocowany sposób odpowiedzieć m.in. na pytania: Jakie czynniki spowodowały, że powstanie strukturalizmu stało się możliwe? Jakie funkcje pełnił teoretyczny język strukturalistyczny? Co decydowało o zmianach, którym strukturalizm podlegał? Co sprawiło, że strukturalizm jako orientacja teoretycznoliteracka zaczął się wycofywać?
