English abstract

The article describes a new web gateway to the union catalogue of the Austrian Library Network. The gateway was implemented by the authors at the Vienna University Computer Centre in September 1996 in order to provide a user interface that is more comfortable than the original Bibos-2-OPAC. Nevertheless, the web gateway depends on the basic functionalities of that OPAC. It is designed as a temporary solution until a new software system for the consortium of Austrian libraries will be implemented.

Der Beitrag stellt ein neues Web-Gateway für den Österreichischen Verbundkatalog vor, das durch die Autoren am EDV-Zentrum der Universität Wien eingerichtet wurde, um eine Benutzeroberfläche anzubieten, die komfortabler ist als der originäre Bibos-2-OPAC. Das Gateway ist allerdings von den grundsätzlichen Funktionalitäten des letzteren abhängig. Es stellt lediglich eine Übergangslösung bis zum Einsatz einer neuen Verbundsoftware für die österreichischen Bibliotheken dar.
