English abstract
During the 2000s, Latin America has contributed to the development of alternative journal portalsintended to improve the visibility of and accessto regionally published socialscience journals. The relatively poor visibility ofregional journals and their authorsis often due to budgetary constraintsforthe distribution of printed journals, and theirlimited presence in international indexes. These are an incentive forthe development of open access(OA)
