English abstract

Access to information can be seen from different perspectives. MaCreadie and Rice argue that it could be defined based on the conceptualization of information. According to these authors, access can be seen as access to knowledge, technology, communication, goods or comfort, control and participation. For the purposes of this study, the focus group technique was applied to a couple of groups (one of them made of nine participants and the other one made of sixteen), in order to know what access to information visualized.The results of these focus groups could help to develop bet

El acceso a la información puede ser visto desde perspectivas diferentes. MaCreadie y Rice argumentan que a partir de la conceptualización de la información se podría definir el acceso a esta. De acuerdo con estos autores, el acceso puede verse como acceso al conocimiento, a la tecnología, a la comunicación, al bien o comodidad, al control y a la participación. Para los fines de este estudio se aplicó la técnica de grupo focal a dos grupos (uno de nueve participantes y otro de dieciséis), para conocer qué visualizaba el acceso a la información. Los resultados de estos grupos focales podrían ayudar a concebir mejores políticas de servicios bibliotecarios y una mejor planeación institucional.
