English abstract

"El profesional de la información" (EPI), is a journal that was founded in 1992 as the newsletter "Information world review". It became a scientific journal with peer-reviewed articles in 1998. Currently it is indexed in the major databases that covers Library, Information science, Communication and Information management: Social Science Citation Index (and Journal Citation Reports), Scopus, Inspec, LISA, Lista, ISOC, Pascal, Francis, Academic Search, Economía y negocios, etc. In this work its main content characteristics and its style manual are presented. Authors wishing to publish an article in EPI should read this style manual carefully. It should be taken into account that the rejection index of the journal is around 75%.

La revista "El profesional de la información" (EPI), fundada en 1992 como la newsletter "Information world review", se convirtió en revista científica con artículos revisados por pares (peer review) en 1998. En la actualidad está indexada en la principales bases de datos que cubren las temáticas biblioteconomía, documentación, comunicación y gestión de información: Social Science Citation Index (y en los Journal Citation Reports), Scopus, Inspec, LISA, Lista, Isoc, Pascal, Francis, Academic Search, Economía y negocios, etc. En este documento se presentan las características principales de sus contenidos, así como su manual de estilo. Los autores que desen publicar un artículo en EPI deben leer este manual cuidadosamente. Téngase en cuenta que el índice de artículos rechazados por la revista se acerca al 75%.
