English abstract

Several years of brainstorming, planning, meetings, writing, and hearings have culminated with this working guide for managers and line staff of government libraries. Guidelines are just that—advice, examples, and models of behaviours, services and best practices to be followed when they suit the situation. As indicated throughout the text, there is no universal solution or style, yet we hope that those presented here will foster creativity and promulgate ideas for adaptation in local settings.

Aquesta guia de treball per a professionals de biblioteques governamentals és producte de molts anys de posada en comú d’idees, planificacions, reunions, esborranys i sessions. Les Directrius són simplement això: recomanacions, exemples, i models de comportament, serveis i bones pràctiques a tenir en compte quan la situació ho requereixi. Tal com s’indica al llarg del text, no hi ha una solució o un estil universal, i no obstant això esperem que les Directrius presentades aquí ajudin a impulsar la creativitat i a promulgar idees que s’adaptin a les condicions locals.
