English abstract

The universe of schools integrated in the public polytechnics located in different geographical areas of Portugal keep in their libraries, documentation centers, documentation services or other designation, all areas of human knowledge. We propose to reflect about the importance of reference services on libraries on public polytechnics and diagnose the existence of reference services in these institutions and how they are offered, traditional or digital. These spaces are privileged to offer this service to the user of the standard service or one that uses new technological tools of digital services environment. The impact felt in the academic community, with the provision of these services will be also subject to thorough analysis and evaluation thereof.

Portuguese abstract

O universo das Escolas Superiores integradas nos Politécnicos Públicos, situados nas diferentes zonas geográficas do país, guarda nas suas Bibliotecas, Centros de Documentação, Serviços de Documentação ou outra designação, todas as áreas do saber humano. No âmbito das bibliotecas dos Institutos Politécnicos públicos em Portugal, propomo-nos reflectir sobre a importância dos serviços de referência e diagnosticar a existência de serviços de referência nestas instituições e a forma como são oferecidos, tradicionais ou digitais. Estes espaços são um meio privilegiado para oferecer este serviço ao utilizador do serviço tradicional ou àquele que usa as novas ferramentas tecnológicas dos serviços digitais. O impacto sentido na comunidade académica, com a prestação destes serviços, será igualmente alvo de análise minuciosa e avaliação respectiva.
