English abstract

The new technologies are paving the way for new forms of people of be themselves, relate, mobilize, learn, and participate. In this context of change facilitated by ICT, we can say that the relationship of individuals with the media and information which has experienced a more significant change, in particular with the emergence of media like the Internet. Against the traditional role of the audience as a passive subject, as receiver of the message represented in the classical scheme of communication, digital media have allowed the receiver often occupy the place of the transmitter-able and share-issue content while playing its place as a consumer of media. This is the situation that gave rise to the concept of "prosumer" that has an important place in this article.

Spanish abstract

Las tecnologías están abriendo paso a nuevas formas de estar, de relacionarse, de movilizarse, de informarse, de participar. En este contexto de cambio facilitado por las TIC, puede afirmarse que es la relación de los individuos con los medios de comunicación e información la que ha experimentado un cambio más significativo, en concreto, con la aparición de medios como Internet. Frente al papel tradicional de la audiencia como sujeto pasivo, como receptor del mensaje representado en el esquema clásico de la comunicación, los medios digitales han permitido que el receptor ocupe con frecuencia el lugar del emisor –capaz de emitir contenidos y compartirlos– sin dejar de desempeñar su lugar como consumidor de medios. Esta situación es la que dio lugar al concepto de «prosumidor» que ocupa un lugar destacado en este monográfico.
