English abstract

We describe the case of Facso, a database of the minutes and other documents of the Board of the Faculty of Social Sciences, which illustrates the integration of Unesco’s WinIsis database management system with Dropbox acting as a “virtual hard disk” on the cloud. Various routing options are shown, even incorporating the old Ms-dos .bat executable commands. This has been tested in a 64-bit version with Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows 8 using Oracle’s Virtual Box, and on 32-bit PC desktop, notebook, and netbook platforms.

Se muestra una experiencia de integración del gestor de bases de datos textuales WinIsis de Unesco, con Dropbox como “disco duro virtual” en la nube. Se estudia el caso de la base de datos Facso, que almacena actas del Consejo de la Facultad de Ciencias Sociales, y otros documentos. Se muestran diversas opciones de direccionamiento, incorporando incluso los antiguos archivos ejecutables .bat provenientes del Ms-dos. Esto ha sido probado en Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8 de 64 bits usando Virtual Box de Oracle, PC de escritorio, Notebook y Netbook de 32 bits.
