English abstract

The (subject) specific training for academic librarians in university libraries in Au-stria is regulated by § 101 article 3 of the University Act 2002: „For the library staff of all universities a standardized training in the field of library, information and documentation must be provided.“ The training for librarians with A-levels or university degrees will be organized in the form of the post-graduate university education. For university graduates there is the option of writing a Master thesis and the attainment of the title „Master of Science MSc“ The training for medium-skilled staff is also statutory and regulated in form and content. Currently, there are three different training programs at the Austrian universities and university libraries, tailored to fit the particular qualification and classification of the participants and students: – Vocational training: Archive, Library and Information Assistant – Training: Library and Information Science – University Course: MSc Library and Information Studies (Basic Course) – University Course: Library and Information Studies MSc (Advanced Course) The article presents the different training possibilities and their content.

Die fachspezifische Ausbildung für wissenschaftliche BibliothekarInnen an Uni-versitätsbibliotheken in Österreich ist durch § 101 Abs. 3 des Universitätsgesetzes 2002 geregelt: „Für das Bibliothekspersonal aller Universitäten ist eine einheitliche Ausbildung aus dem Bereich Bibliotheks-, Informations-, und Dokumenta-tionswesen vorzusehen.“ Primär lässt sich festhalten, dass die Ausbildung für BibliothekarInnen mit Matura bzw. universitärem Abschluss in Form der postgradualen universitären Weiterbildung stattfindet. Für HochschulabsolventInnen ist dieser Abschluss mit dem Verfassen einer wissenschaftlichen Abschlussarbeit (Master Thesis) und der Er-langung des Titels „Master of Science MSc“ verbunden. Die Ausbildung für MitarbeiterInnen mittlerer Qualifikation ist ebenfalls gesetzlich vorgeschrieben und inhaltlich geregelt. Derzeit gibt es an österreichischen Universitäten bzw. Universitätsbibliotheken drei verschiedene Ausbildungsangebote, angepasst an die jeweilige Qualifikation und Einstufung der TeilnehmerInnen und Studierenden: – Lehrberuf: Archiv-, Bibliotheks- und InformationsassistentIn – Lehrgang: Bibliothek, Information und Dokumentation – Universitätslehrgang: Library and Information Studies MSc Grundlehrgang – Universitätslehrgang: Library and Information Studies MSc Aufbaulehrgang Der Artikel stellt die genannten Ausbildungszweige und ihre Inhalte vor.
