English abstract
Plagiarism has grown to such an alarming rate that the academic community finds it difficult to spot an authentic work among the plethora of published literature. Anti-plagiarism softwares have become popular as a solution to overcome this problem. This study aims at analyzing the experiences of university libraries in Kerala which have access to iThenticate and Turnitin, the two anti-plagiarism softwares provided by INFLIBNET Centre on a trial basis. Ph.D theses are most frequently checked for plagiarism followed by research papers. Library staff constitute the largest number among the users while teachers the smallest. Science subjects show least plagiarism whereas social science subjects the highest plagiarism. The paper points out the importance of user awareness programmes and training programmes for the library staff members.
