English abstract

New technologies allow wireless solutions of great interest to libraries , as they offer a good chance of multiplying access Internet without huge wiring work and predisposition to fixed locations , or with substantial money savings on the same . The Library "Politecnica" at University of Parma , exploiting these features , achieved an increase in access points to all library services , both for users and staff , and it was possible to offer a highly specialized service for expert users .

Le nuove tecnologie wireless consentono soluzioni di indubbio interesse per le biblioteche, in quanto offrono buone possibilità di moltiplicazione degli accessi Internet senza ingenti lavori di cablaggio e predisposizione di postazioni fisse, o con un consistente risparmio sui medesimi. La Biblioteca Politecnica dell'Università di Parma, sfruttando queste caratteristiche, ha realizzato un aumento di punti di accesso e di lavoro, sia per gli utenti che per il personale, ed è stato possibile offrire un servizio altamente specializzato per un'utenza particolarmente esigente.
