English abstract

The general objective of our study was to analyse the research methods and techniques used in the top Spanish scientific journals on library and information science, and to compare the results with those of similar studies. The following journals were included in the analysis: Anales de Documentación; BiD: textos universitaris de biblioteconomia i documentació; Cybermetrics; El profesional de la información; Revista española de documentación científica; Revista general de información y documentación; and Scire. All of them are indexed in Scopus and only two, El profesional de la información (EPI) and the Revista española de documentación científica (REDC), are also included in WoS. The period covered was three years (2012-2014), and the total number of papers analysed was 580.

Spanish abstract

El objetivo general de este estudio fue analizar los métodos y técnicas de investigación utilizados en las principales revistas científicas españolas de biblioteconomía y documentación y comparar los resultados con los de estudios similares. Las siguientes revistas se incluyeron en el análisis: Anales de Documentación; BiD: Textos Universitaris de Biblioteconomía i Documentació; Cibermetría; El profesional de la información; Revista Española de Documentación Científica; Revista General de Información y Documentación; y Scire. Todas ellas están indexadas en Scopus y sólo dos, El profesional de la información (EPI) y la Revista Española de Documentación Científica (REDC), también se incluyen en WoS. El período cubierto fue de tres años (2012-2014), y el número total de documentos analizados fue de 580.
