English abstract

The report describes the evolution of research on information, documentation and archiving in Catalonia during the period 2000-2013. From a quantitative and integrating perspective, an overview of the complete cycle of research is given. Three basic issues are described and analyzed: Catalan institutions which are researching this field; human and financial resources available for research; and finally, scientific results arising from activities executed. From the point of view of economic resources, competitive calls related to scientific research have been analyzed and noncompetitive ones, or closer to the development and innovation of products and services, have been rejected. Regarding human resources, data on university teaching and public competitive calls on research have been collected and analyzed. In relation to scientific results, the diversity of subject classifications used for analyzing theses, journals, papers and conferences should be emphasized. As for journals, professional and institutional bulletins have been excluded from the analysis. In addition, it has been considered appropriate to incorporate a section on documentary resources in order to evaluate scientific journals developed by Catalan research teams. With regard to monographs, the study only covers the period 2009-2013 and it takes into account both published works on paper and online. The study concludes that the Catalan research on information, documentation and archiving is not in the initial phase but it is still far from full consolidation. However it is necessary to increase the internationalization of the sector and enhance all human resources, where the low presence of training programs for researchers is especially serious.

L’informe descriu l’evolució de la recerca en informació, documentació i arxivística a Catalunya durant el període 2000-2013. Des d’una perspectiva quantitativa i integradora, es dóna una visió global del cicle complet de la recerca descrivint i analitzant tres qüestions bàsiques: les institucions catalanes que investiguen aquest camp; els recursos humans i econòmics disponibles per fer recerca, i, finalment, els resultats científics derivats de les activitats executades. Des del punt de vista dels recursos econòmics, s’han analitzat convocatòries competitives relacionades amb la recerca científica i se n’han descartat d’altres de no competitives o més pròximes al desenvolupament i a la innovació de productes i serveis. Quant als recursos humans, s’han recopilat i comentat dades sobre professorat universitari i convocatòries competitives públiques de recerca. Respecte als resultats científics, cal fer constar la diversitat de classificacions temàtiques usades per analitzar les tesis, revistes, monografies i congressos. Amb relació a revistes, s’han exclòs de l’anàlisi els butlletins professionals i institucionals. A més, s’ha considerat adient incorporar un apartat sobre recursos documentals per avaluar revistes científiques desenvolupats per equips de recerca catalans. Pel que fa a les monografies, el període estudiat abasta exclusivament els anys 2009-2013 i es tenen en compte tant obres publicades en paper com en línia. L’estudi conclou que la recerca catalana en informació, documentació i arxivística no es troba en una fase inicial però encara està lluny de la plena consolidació. Tanmateix cal augmentar la internacionalització de l’àmbit i sobretot potenciar els recursos humans, on és especialment greu la baixa presència en programes de formació d’investigadors.
