The information society offers great possibilities to individuals, but also increases the multiple gaps between citizens and countries. The library in this context is one of the most important strategic resources to mitigate these difficulties and encourage individuals and communities to participate fully in the possibilities offered by the so-called information technologies. Thus libraries are drawing up plans and spaces to empower their communities with innovative services that have been adapted gradually to the new situation. In line with this the role of the librarian involves expanding its capabilities as one of the key resources of the library of the future. The paper analyzes these changes and how libraries are responding positively in favor of its users and their comunidades.
