English abstract

The arrival of the new digital environment has led to a revolution in the creation and the access to the information. One of the most remarkable consequences of this phenomenon is the Big Data, which refers to the huge amount of digitalized data that is used by distinct stakeholders for their analysis and use with different goals. This paper analyzes the consequences in the context of Personal Data Protection and lists the challenges and problems the Big Data implies in order to the legal principles that defend the privacy of the citizens.

La llegada del nuevo entorno digital ha supuesto una revolución en el ámbito de la creación y acceso a la información. Una de las consecuencias más notables de este fenómeno es el Big Data, que hace referencia a la gran cantidad de datos digitalizados que son utilizados por distintos interesados para su análisis y uso con distintos fines. Este artículo analizada las consecuencias en lo que se refiere a la protección de datos y enumera los desafíos y problemas que supone el Big Data de acuerdo a los principios legales que defienden la privacidad de los ciudadanos.
