English abstract

The paper presents general issues and models of functionality tests, impact and value of libraries. Areas of research and international standards are presented and the most important projects and initiatives in the United States and Europe (excluding Polish) are discussed.

W artykule przedstawiono zagadnienia ogólne i modele badań funkcjonalności oraz oddziaływania, wpływu i wartości bibliotek. Zaprezentowano obszary badań i normy międzynarodowe. Omówiono najważniejsze projekty i inicjatywy w Stanach Zjednoczonych i Europie (z pominięciem Polski).
