English abstract

This essay proposes four theses for a Critical Library and Information Studies (CLIS) research agenda. The author argues that a normative commitment to libraries as social institutions should guide any future CLIS research agenda, that the natural sciences are a poor model for CLIS research, that value neutrality should be abandoned, and that any CLIS project should propose alternative.

Este ensayo propone cuatro tesis para una agenda de investigación de Estudios Críticos de Biblioteconomía y Documentación (Critical Library and Information Studies. CLIS). El autor argumenta que un compromiso normativo con las bibliotecas como instituciones sociales debería guiar cualquier futura agenda de investigación de CLIS, que las ciencias naturales son un modelo pobre para la investigación de CLIS, que el valor de la neutralidad debería abandonarse y que cualquier proyecto de CLIS debería proponer alternativas.
