English abstract

Title: "The reference service and the reference librarian". Detailed theoretical presentation of a reference service and reference work. ¿What is it? ¿How did it develop? ¿Who does this reference work? and so on as well as the stages (the reference process) the reference librarían goes through in an attempt to answer effectively and economically the questions put forward by users.

Desarrollo teórico exhaustivo de un Servicio de Referencia, Trabajo de Referencia, qué es, cómo surgió, para qué sirve, quién desempeña esta labor referencista, etc., así como las etapas (Proceso de Referencia) a través de las cuales el bibliotecario referencista discurre con objeto de responder, efectiva y económicamente las cuestiones planteadas por cualquier usuario.
