English abstract

This paper briefly discusses the main concepts on electronic libraries ranging from storage of information sources in eelctronic media to networked search mechanisms to migration strategies.

Turkish abstract

Elektronik arşivler bir ulusun elektronik formdaki sosyal, ekonomik, kültürel ve entellektüel mirasına, çeşitli kopyalama (migration) stratejileri kullanmak suretiyle, bir bütünlük içinde ve uzun dönem erişim sağlanmasında ortaklaşa sorumluluğu olan elektronik bilgi depolarıdır” şeklinde tanımlanmaktadır. Bu tanım “elektronik kütüphaneler” için de geçerlidir. Bu makalede bilgi kaynaklarının elektronik ortamlarda depolanması, bu bilgilere erişmek için bazı mekanizmaların geliştirilmesi ve ağlar aracılığıyla söz konusu bilgilerin kullanıma sunulması ile ilgili kısa bilgiler verilmektedir.
