English abstract
From the different definitions and conceptions about what is knowledge management (KM) and documentation, is offered a panorama that introduces the basic conceptual fundaments of which one of those knowledge areas. There are given the principal KM and intellectual capital models that are worked in the business environment and the distinct sights that have been formed around what the documentation is. There are illustrated the different relations that are established between this new business tendency and the documentation, and the we continue with an advance about the knowledge management incidence in the Medellín companies between 1995 and 2001 research, with emphasis on the documentation as a KM measurement tool.
Spanish abstract
A partir de las diferentes definiciones y concepciones de lo que es la gestión del conocimiento (GC) y la documentación, se ofrece un panorama que introduce los fundamentos conceptuales básicos de cada una de estas áreas del saber. Se dan a conocer los principales modelos de (GC) y de capital intelectual que se trabajan en el ámbito empresarial y los diversos puntos de vista que se han formado en torno a lo que es la documentación. Se ilustran las diferentes relaciones que se establecen entre esta nueva tendencia empresarial y la documentación y se continúa con un avance sobre la investigación de la incidencia de la gestión del conocimiento en las empresas de Medellín entre 1995 y 2001, con énfasis en la documentación como herramienta de medición de la GC.
