English abstract

The International Conference "Berlin 5 - From Practice to impact. Consequences of knowledge dissemination", held in Padua from September 19th to 21st, confirmed that Open Access is a clear concept, but a complex reality, as it is a matter of digital access, of economics sustainability, of quality, of infrastructures, of policies. Following the topics pointed out in the speeches, this contribute tries to match the Open Access strategies - self-archiving and publishing in OA journals - with the current or possible behaviours of the agents involved - authors, institutions, libraries, publishers, readers - in order to draw a framework of the works in progress and to outline viable pathways, given that each science is "a" science, and has its own communication tools.

Il Convegno internazionale "Berlin 5 - From Practice to impact. Consequences of knowledge dissemination", tenuto a Padova dal 19 al 21 settembre 2007, conferma come l'Open Access sia un conceto chiaro, ma una realtà complessa, che coinvolge questioni quali l'accesso digitale, la sostenibilità economica, la qualità, le infrastrutture, le policies. Ripercorrendo gli argomenti proposti nei singoli interventi, questo contributo si propone di collegare le strategie dell'Open Access - autoarchiviazione e pubbblicazione in riviste OA - con le tendenze presenti e future degli attori coinvolti - autori, istituzioni, biblioteche, editori, lettori - per cercare di tracciare un panorama corrente e di delineare possibili vie per il futuro, tenendo ben presente che ogni scienza è "una" scienza e ha le sue specifiche modalità di comunicazione.
