English abstract
The main purpose of the paper is to assess the Information Communication Technology Components in the MLIS curriculum in the universities of North East India. This study focuses on how the Department of Library and Information Science in the universities of North East (NE) India put on the ICT aspects in the MLIS curricula. Study has been conducted by the information given in the websites of the selected universities of NE. Further, personal contact was made with the Departments of Library and Information Science of the universities for more detailed information through e-mail, social networks, and the telephone. Findings of the study reveals that almost all the eight universities cover all the ICT components in their syllabus as per semester. Some of the universities follow CBCS curricula and six out of eight universities have Open Elective Papers related to ICT components. Information Communication Technology became a prominent asset in the academic field and this study emphasizes the importance of ICT in LIS curricula and it can be stated how students of each university are learning the ICT components theoretically and practically.
