English abstract
Wikipedia offers a lot of opportunities for the academic and research community to develop content collaboratively to fill the gaps or improve existing content. Wikipedia and related projects can be used for educational activities to enhance the skill-sets of the academic community. This article is a short introduction to Wikipedia . It describes its functioning, language coverage, and points out how libraries can coordinate Wikipedia activities for their benefit and to inspire and guide users to contribute content to the project in public interest.
