English abstract

The structuring of institutional repositories by universities contributes to the promotion of its prestige, improvement in the evaluation rankings and, consequently, increase of its relevance and influence. For the Federal University of Latin American Integration (UNILA), whose institutional mission is represented by the training of human resources that will contribute to Latin American integration, regional development and cultural, scientific and educational interchange in Latin America, tools to increase preservation times and expand access to information are vitally important. The repository is expected to contribute to free access to information; facilitate management of information available in digital media; preserve institutional memory and increase the visibility and use of intellectual production developed at the university. This study aims to present the stages of creation of RI-UNILA: contextualizing the Federal University of Latin American Integration (UNILA); rescuing in the specialized literature information for the theoretical support of the work; finally presenting the implementation stages of the repository.

A estruturação de repositórios institucionais por universidades contribui para a promoção doseu prestígio, melhoria nos rankings de avaliação e, consequentemente, aumento de suarelevância e influência. Para a Universidade Federal da Integração Latino-Americana (UNILA),cuja missão institucional é representada pela formação de recursos humanos que venham acontribuir com a integração latino-americana, com o desenvolvimento regional e com ointercâmbio cultural, científico e educacional da América Latina, as ferramentas paraaumentar o tempo de preservação e ampliar o acesso à informação têm vital importância.Espera-se que o repositório venha a contribuir para o acesso livre de informações; facilitar agestão da informação disponível em meio digital; preservar a memória institucional e ampliara visibilidade e uso da produção intelectual desenvolvida na universidade. Este estudo visaapresentar as etapas de criação do RI-UNILA: contextualizando a Universidade Federal daIntegração Latino-Americana (UNILA); resgatando na literatura especializada informaçõespara o suporte teórico do trabalho; apresentando, por fim, as etapas de implementação dorepositório.
