English abstract

This paper aims to define the digital library concept, to show a few digital library initiatives, at international level, and to specify the advantages, as well as the disadvantages of creating a digital library.

În lucrarea de faţă se propune definirea conceptului de bibliotecă digitală, prezentarea câtorva inițiative de biblioteci digitale, la nivel internațional, și specificarea avantajelor, precum și a dezavantajelor creării unei biblioteci digitale.
