English abstract

El bibliotecario en la actualidad tiene una función de agente de transformación social que va más allá del estereotipo de ser prestador y acomodador de documentos. En una encuesta realizada a un grupo de bibliotecarios y bibliotecarias públicas se reporta que ellos se perciben a sí mismos con tal estereotipo y, entre otros, hacen manifiesta la necesidad de recibir capacitación para tratar con las personas que asisten a la biblioteca. Desde la perspectiva del Desarrollo Humano, surge la posibilidad de un abordaje al empoderamiento del bibliotecario; con un enfoque cualitativo, a través de entrevistas fenomenológicas a tres bibliotecarias, cuyo análisis muestra la agencia personal, vislumbra el empoderamiento propio y colectivo que propina el ejercicio del rol del bibliotecario. Se retoma el ECP como factor clave de reflexión para la toma de conciencia por parte del bibliotecario que emerge como agente de cambio social y cultural y se plantean algunas sugerencias para promover el empoderamiento.
