English abstract

The subject of the study will be the relations of three collections of art books donated to Museum of Contemporary Art of São Paulo University’s library in 1963, 1971 and 2018 and their relationship with cultural sustainability. The objective is to bring historical bibliographical collections with the cultural dimension of the concept of sustainability, through out bibliographic research of the three donors of the collections, its contents, and the relations between the books and Museum of Contemporary Art. The collections that will be carried out were donated by Paulo Rossi Osir (1890-1959), Mario Zanini (1907-1971) and Walter Zanini (1925-2013), these donations will bring some intrinsic relations between them. It was during the management of Walter Zanini at he head of Museum of Contemporary Art from 1963 to 1978, that was launched the process of incorporating the two artist’ libraries. In 2018, his own library was also incorporated into the same Museum of Contemporary Art. The issue of cultural sustainability will be addressed by approaches related to the theme. We”ll work in the question of the term sustainable development dealt with in the 1990, the tripod of sustainable development, the concepts from the 2000s on the fourth pillar conceptualized as the cultural dimension of sustainability. In the conclusions, we thought about the question of the interrelationship between these concepts and the social responsibility of libraries in this moment of the 2020, bringing to the fore its role as a locus of motivations for new actions to all citizens, taking into account the social welfare state process from the benefits of free and authentic democracy.
