English abstract

Abstract: This Paper traces and analyse of doctoral dissertation in Library and Information Science in India. This paper study 164 Ph.D.s and categorised them as per the objectives of paper only 55 university department get interested to submit theses topic to the Association of Indian University (AIU) from 22 different states. Therefore this research paper provides a comprehensive picture of doctoral research carried out by various LIS department of India. Development of LIS research in India and data was collected from “University New” Theses of the Month from 2005 to 2010.
